How can i modify my form so that there is only 1 submit button, thats displayed conditionally?

Hello,

I am building a form that can be used for both adding new records to my database and editing existing ones. At present i have this almost working, however, at the end of the form i have 2 submit buttons:
www.globexposure.net/edit_form/search_poi.php

Really there should only ever be one submit button, which changes depending on whether the <input name='search' > has been used. If it has then only the 'Update POI' submit should be shown.... How is this done?
