Question

How do I open page in new "Window"?

Asked by: stephi01

I have an HTML page that I am working on that contains a scrollable list of links and a box (window?) next to it. I need to display different information in the window when a link form the list is clicked. I DO NOT need a new browser window to open... I just need the the box on the page to display different data based on the link that was clicked.

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am on a deadline... :(

Is this box a div? iframe? Where is the information you want in the box coming from?

by: stephi01Posted on 2009-10-27 at 10:31:18ID: 25675086

i am going to use an iframe.
I'm an HTML newbie... but I was thinking that I could store the info i need in the box as a seperate page. then have that page displayed in the box when the link was clicked. But if there is a more efficient way out there I am all ears!

Again, I dont want to open a new browser window.

Just curious - what was wrong with the script I provided? If I understand right, the script does exactly what you wanted it to.

DVation191:

You're right. My apologies... My only question is would this work with a scrollable list instead of a drop down? (How would you code that? Like I said, newbie) Also how would you put the URL into the options?

Thanks!

Alternatively look into greybox, lightbox and other of the million of popups out there that are not windows

What is a scrollable list? Some ASP widget?

If you are on a deadline, please tell us as much as possible about your setup so we do not have to guess.
Thanks
