"that deals with HTTPS (unlike the OOTB RSS Web Part that comes with MOSS)"
Sorry, slight typo! I meant 'Authenticated feeds' rather than 'HTTPS' in that sentence!

Browse All TopicsI have a MOSS 2007 Server which uses https traffic and authentication with local user accounts.
I need to be informed as soon as possible if content on the MOSS Server changes without having to log on to the MOSS Server. To accomplish this, I have subscribed to RSS feeds for various list and libraries with my Internet Explorer 7.
Now i am very confused about how this should work, and if this scenario will work at all.
1. Is the RSS Reader of Internet Explorer 7 capable of updating content of https web sites?
2. How can the RSS Reader notice changes on the MOSS server if authentication is turned on?

I've seen problems with this before. The IE7 RSS Reader asks for credentials when it updates, and that is if you can get your valid credentials to be accepted via RSS Reader at all (also caused problems!).
t/stuff.as px) that deals with HTTPS (unlike the OOTB RSS Web Part that comes with MOSS) to aggregate the feeds of interest, and somehow put that in an area that doesn't need authentication?
Also, Authenticated feeds are a problem for the OOTB RSS Viewer in MOSS. I wonder if you could use the free RSS FeedReader by Smiling Goat (http://www.smilinggoat.ne
I know your IE7 RSS Reader can handle https (mine does!), but it's the authentication that will be the problem. Smiling Goat could work if you have an unauthenticated place to put it.
