rss/xml feed - asp.net 2.0 - firewall problem?

I am reading in an rss feed using vb.net (xmlDocName.Load("http address") and using xslt to format the display.

This works fine on local iis on Windows xp machine. However, our live web environment is locked down very securley by our hosting partner, and I suspect their firewall is preventing the xml from being loaded.

I've asked them to open port 80 to the dedicated URLs / IPs referenced in my app, but it's still not working. Any ideas?
