The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

  • The Grade of the Solution
  • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
  • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
  • The Number of Experts Contributing
  • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Emailing an html file with external css file

Asked by mdcarr in Extensible HTML (XHTML), Cascading Style Sheets (CSS)

Hello,

First, thank you in advance for your time.

I am having two problems when I email an html file:

1)  In my html file I have an anchor tag.  When the mouse cursor is hovering over the anchor tag I want the cursor to show an underline and change to a hand pointer (standard stuff).  The code snippet that is included does exactly this when I load the html file into a browser.  However after emailing the html file I get strange results.  When I navigate to my web mailbox and look at the email, the underline doesn't appear during a hover?!

One of the addon's to Firefox is a 'Web Developer' tool.   When I use this tool and turn on CSS | View Style Information, I can see the css classes that are being referenced for my anchor tag.  Two hover styles are listed: 1) td.PaymentLink a:hover (which I did write) and a:hover (which I did not write and which sets the text-decoration property to none).  It seems that a:hover is being used.  How do I force mine to be invoked?

2) When I email this html file, not only do the images appear in the body of the email (which is correct) the images are also being sent as attachments.  I don't want them to be sent as attachments.  How do I stop that?

Thank you again,
Michael Carr
