HTML to XSL

I am using Word 2000 to save word documents to HTML. They come out looking perfect in the browser as .HTM files. However, when I convert them to XSL, (basically put the XSL headers and footer tags in the document). XSL doesn't like a lot of the HTML things. For instance it hickups on the <meta> tags. and <link> tags, it wants a closing tag. It also doesn't like unquoted string literals like this:
<div class=msonormal>
it expects those to be quoted like this:
<div class='msonormal'> however, regular HTML doesn't really care. I wrote a parsing engine to go through and and quote those fields which works great, however now I am left with the meta / link tags, and also some other statements that the XSL doesn't like. I was hoping there is some way in XSL, to just specify that the following block of code is just HTML and just to treat that block as HTML so I don't have to worry about parsing the rest of it. Is there anything like:
<HTMLBLock starts here>
bunch of HTML code here...
</HTMLBlock ends here>

and anything between those tags, doesn't get touched by the XSL parser and thus doesn't throw an error?? Any ideas would be appreciated.
