capturing the value of an XML node and storing it in a variable

Hello everyone,

I have a problem when I'm trying to store the value of an XML node in a variable in ASP. This is what I'm trying to do:

1. Grab the value of the node via the XMLDOM using the "selectSingleNode" method. This works fine.

2. Store the value's .text property within a variable. This also works fine.

3. Once I have that value stored in the variable, I want to update the node using node.text = "somenewvalue". This works fine as well.

4. I don't want the value of the variable to change. This is the problem...I want the value of the variable to remain static, but it now carries the "somenewvalue" instead of the old data. How can I update the node while keeping the value of the variable, which I grab before updating the node, static. This is the problem. Any help would be appreciated.
