The Solution Rating System

With so many solutions, how can you tell which solutions are most likely to help you and which ones are not? To provide you with a tool to use, we rate our solutions based on various elements that most accurately determine if a solution is a quality solution. To explain what factors affect the solution rating, here are the elements we take into consideration when formulating our solution rating.

 • The Grade of the Solution
 • The Zone Rank of the Expert Providing the Solution
 • The Number of Author and Expert Comments
 • The Number of Experts Contributing
 • The Feedback of the Community

Your Input Matters
Because of the way the system is set up, the most important variable in this equation is you. As a member of Experts Exchange, you are able to cast your vote on the quality of the solutions in regard to how complete, accurate, helpful and easy to understand each solution is. When you provide your feedback, each rating is adjusted accordingly. So, if you see a solution that has a poor rating that you think is a good solution, let us know by rating it. As you do, the rating will be adjusted and will become more accurate for other members of our site.

If you have any suggestions that you would like to make for our rating system, please ask a question in the Suggestions Zone of Community Support.

Thank you!

Javascript + XML, style="display:visible", 'Object Expected' error

Asked by dmullis in Extensible Markup Language (XML), Extensible HTML (XHTML)

Tags: error, expected, object, javascript

I am new to Javascript and XML. I have a working xml document programmed by others which contains other working javascripts programmed by others. I just wrote a new one as a test before I complicate my script further. I am geting an Object expected error on my script. Can someone tell me what is wrong with my script.

I have an element that I want to hide when the page loads set to style="display:none". This hides the element from displaying on my page. I wrote a test function to see if I can get the element to show back up when a user puts a number in a text box.

The element I am trying to get to show back up:
<element type="multilist" listtype="occurrence" id="occurrence" top="218" left="375" style="display:none" property="Occurrence"></element>

My function:

<javascript>
<![CDATA[
funtion showViolations()
document.getElementById("violationnumberbox");
}
if (!isNaN(violationnumberbox.value)==true);
document.getElementById("occurrence")style.display == "inline";
}
]]>
</javascript>

My textbox element with the associted event:

<element type="textbox" id="violationnumberbox" left="475" top="155" width="25" property="ViolationNumberBox">
<attribute name="onKeyUp">javascript:showViolations();</attribute>
</element>

There is another Javascript running on this page between it's on
<javascript>
<![CDATA[
</javascript>

tags. Could that be a problem?
