Using XML for documentation

I've got a fairly large enterprise application for which I want to develop help files and user manuals.

I've got this idea that I could develop the base documentation within XML and then produce the HTML and Word files using a vb program which I can run whenever the docs change. That will enable me to store the text for each section in only one place, rather than duplicating it in Word and HTML

So the base documentation would consist of files like this:

howtoprint.xml:

<section id="howtoprint" helpfilecontext="10205" userguidecontext="30715">
<title>How to Print Documents</title>
<body>
Some Text
<image src="asd.jpg"><image>
</body>
</section>

Is this something that could be pulled together quite easily and if so can you give me some ideas on how ? .... I've got good knowledge of html, vba, vb, js, xml etc but not xsl
