Question

testing for a string to be null in XSL

Hi Experts

<xsl:when test="$myCode= 'AUDIO' or $myCode='VIDEO'">

the above statement will check is the variable myCode is equal to the strings. However if I want to test for a null string how can i do it.

And also if i have to
test a condition like
if((myCode.equals("VIDEO") || myCode.equals("AUDIO))  && myCode.equals("xomeotherstring"))

how do i do the above in xsl

Any help will be greatly appreciated..

I don't think you can get null from xml, so this should work:
<xsl:when test="$myCode=''"></xsl:when>


for your second post, I think brackets should do the work...

<xsl:when test="($myCode='VIDEO' or $myCode='AUDIO')  and myOthCode='xomeotherstring'"></xsl:when>

you can test for the presence of a null string within the node

<xsl:if test="string-length($mycode) !=0">

do summut

</xsl:if>


so you can check for the presence of a node

<mynode></mynode>
<mynode/>

and whether or not it contains a value
