I don't think it has the WDS option. Thanks for the help!

Browse All TopicsHi there.
My Linksys WRT54G is connected to the Internet on the 2nd floor of the house. I have 3 desktops that need Internet access on the first floor. Cabling is not an option because the entrances to both floors are different; I'm using a laptop on the first floor connected to the Linksys and signal strength is excellent. I already have a Dlink DIR-300 that I would like to wirelessly connect from the first floor to the Linksys on the second floor so that I could hardwire my desktops to the DLink.
As much as possible, I would not like to buy a wireless card for each desktop because I won't really be staying in this place for long.
Thank you in advance for your help.

If not flash the WRT with dd-wrt firmware ( www.dd-wrt.com). will enable the option to use WRT as an cliente bridge / repeater bridge and can connect directly to Dlink .
I have 2 Linksys at home and both use dd-wrt, that firmware will put your router in the next level :P

If both support WDS you problem is solved, you just have to put the MAC of Linksys in Dlink / MAC Dlink in Linksys and use same channel.
If one of them dont have that options see if Dlink has Client-Mode, you set it up with that mode and will work as a client using the DHCP server from Linksys.
First check if has that mods ( WDS or Cliend-Mode/Bridge) and post your comment.
