I took a contract position after failing in the job market for several years, not knowing much of anything about VB6, SQL, client-server, etc. I had primarily been involved in PC database development, Access, Foxpro, dBase for a number of years and couldn't break into the real nitty gritty stuff. Thanks in part to Experts-Exchange, I was a great success on the contract position, moved on to a full-time benefited position based on that experience, and continue to support the contract development via VPN at home.
