Need info on HiTek GeForce MX 64mb

Hi all,

I've recently seen a 64mb GeForce MX with TVout advertised for AUS$165, which strikes me as a pretty good deal.

Problem is, I've never heard of HiTek (maybe Hi-Tek?), so I'm looking for info, reviews, benchmarks, even personal experiences with the brand and this card.

I tried a Yahoo and Copernic searches, and a few educated guesses and couldn't find anything, so perhaps HiTek is a rebrand of someone else?

I'm using a Hi-Tec Simple AGP Video card of some older model in one of my PC's, and it is running without problems.
I'm very satisfied with the quality that is displayed with this Hi-Tek card.
I have never searched for information (I did now), but it seems that there is no Hi-Tek on the net.

This can mean two things:
1. Hi-Tek is a "Hit and run" company.
2. Hi-Tek is a (sub)brand of a biger computer company.

In the first case the quality of the product is variable, in the most cases the product is build from parts that they can purchase in the cheapest way. (somtimes beter than other times.)

In the second case, the quality is most of the times almost even good (somtimes even beter) as the real brand products.
Sometimes these (sub)brand is a older model that is taken out of the collection, but will be produced for some time with an other brandname.
Some companies uses these (sub)brands as a kind of try-out for testing the "beta"-models of their new unreleased stuff.

e.g. Daewoo build great DVD-players, the (also high-quality) DiViDo DVD player is actually a Daewoo.

I works at best buy and we sell the hitek card. from reviews i've read any card with geoforce mx technolgy is a great buy. the only major differences is the vector rate, antialias, and buffer speeds. the best cards on the market right now and cards with geoforce 2 mx, or geoforce 3 with ddr-ram. a 32meg graphic card with ddr-ram is as fast as a 64meg card with sdram, but with a faster clock speed.

tstc101 - Could you please check out a box next time you're at work and see if you can find a an email address or a URL, something like that?
I have found a HiTek that makes test equipment and assemblies for other manufacturers, I wonder if it's them, they seem to have the technology,  they obviously don't distribute and support it though. You might try looking up some of the companies referenced here that they are affiliated with or own......

Closest I can come so far.

Sorry, I haven't been ignoring you: I didn't get an email notif for ComTech's comment.

I poked around on the website RW suggested but couldn't find anything.  I've emailed them twice, but I'm yet to hear anything back (pretty optimistic I know - I don't think I've ever recieved a reply from a manufacturer!).

ComTech - would it be possible for you to check if tstc101 has logged in lately?  If they work for someone who sells these cards, they can probably get some info.

I appreciate the comments people have made so far, but I haven't really learnt anything new.  I'm happy to leave this open in case someone comes along with some more info, or delete.
Hi d_hall, tstc101's last login was 08/05/01, When I look through these for deleteion, it's more of a scan and a last date posted by user.  I didn't realize we had an Expert User in this instance, which we know You know when a Q is ready for closure.

I'll take the date comment off and repost a fresh 0 point link to this Q.

Where does tstc101 usually post?

Thanks,

I'm not sure it's the same brand (I'm pretty sure it was spelt HiTek), but I'll phone the PC shop tomorrow morning and double check.

If that is the brand then I'll award these points to WiZaRd, but I'll also pay (new Q) for any reviews people can find.
HiTek is a Taiwanees company, their URL is mentioned on the back of the documentation I received:

But don't bother, you can't read it (I think) but you can try if you like,

Look at http://www.hitek.com.tw/

Good luck

OK, the one I was looking at is HiTek, although it looks like High Tech is available around here too.

Murphey2 - that looks like the right company, but (as you said) I can't read a word (when it works - it didn't when I first looked, did when you posted your comment, and doesn't now).  Sent an email to webmaster@hitek.com.tw asking for contact details (again, probably a bit hopeful), but haven't heard back.

Thanks guys, but I think this is a lost cause.  However, I think the fact that nobody can find any info on this brand makes the Q useful as a PAQ (i.e. there is no English-language info or support available for the brand, so buyer beware!).

I'll ask CS to reduce the points here, and award a few points to all in appreciation of your efforts.

Ok, Dave, I reduced the points.  Post notices here with links to your points questions.  If people don't get the notices we'll figure out a way to alert them.
