smbfs mount not refreshing.
I have a shares on Win2K server, and I mount this under /mnt/host/d.
Problem is, the data seems to be static.
1. New files created on Win2K, does not appear on /mnt/host/d. Any changes made to the files is not visible.
2. If I were to create files under Linux, Win2K cannot sees it.
What is happening.
The client is Rh7.2
/etc/fstab
//server/d /mnt/server/d smbfs rw,username=Administrator, password=m ypassword, defaults 0 0

add the debug option in your /etc/fstab and see what it reports

apology on a long pause in replying. Just came back from weekend gateway.
I would need to wait a couple of days to get it tested since the Win2K machine is brought down for maintenance.

.. the truth is, we took it's an old Compaq ML.. (something) series. My collegues took the scsi cable and the CDROM out. After that put it back, turn the machine on, nothing happens... kinda stupid, but that is what happened. Never bother to look at it seriously since it's a test machine. Pity machine
Pity me.. moved from Solaris, Sun, Unix env. to WinXX "world" is some career "enhancement" already. :P
take care

The problem is solved;
I login to the server manuall, and create the files, it seems that RH can see it.
I found out that the remote shares is mapped using a different username. This causes the files to be hidden. I Guess.
I have to either delete the Q, or wait for an explanation.

ahoffman,
thanks a lot for the initial pointer.
I'm afraid I had to delete the Q since practically it's solved, and I have waited quite sometime for anybody to drop by and give some explanation. And no one.
I wish it could be a good PAQ.
