Sounds as if the protected mode driver for the adapter is having problems. Have you tried switching to the real mode driver?

Maybe try uninstalling and re-installing Dial Up Networking.
Go to add/remove programs / windows setup / communications - remove the tick from DUN and reboot the PC...
Then put the tick back in when you restarted - then reboot one more time and try again...

Beware of hubs for them disconnects, but since message is about protocol, s/b the card.

Hello all,
