ASP vs PHP ?

Almost PHP can do whatever ASP can.

I think PHP is more light, easy to deploy and performance
is faster than ASP.

Can any experts give me your point of view on this ?

ASPGuru, you said that PHP doesn't have a database abstraction layer, which isn't quite true. There is a component called PEAR which acts like ADO. There are hundreds of functions for PHP that ASP cannot compare. It is also much faster, and using LAMP, is really the best way to go.
yes, i know PEAR, that's why i said it hasn't a DB abstraction layer BUILT IN....

Let get this discussion going on.
Hopefully, I can hear a lot of talented voice from
PHP and ASP guru.
If you're going to host your site on IIS, use ASP for development.  If you're host is on a *nix, use PHP.

You can use either environment to build sophisticated sites, they both have pluses and minuses, but from a server admin point of view it's nice to use the native environment rather than needing 3rd party software on the server.

But PHP can use GD library to generate gif, jpg or png on the fly. Can ASP do that ?

PHP is an open source, and is there is a problem or
security leak. The PHP programmers will fix it. This is
not the case in ASP, right ?
