Connect to Oracle using ODBC
I'm very new in Delphi Database and ODBC. I would like to know how to setup ODBC (DBE) to connect to Oracle database server (using TCP/IP). I already install Oracle Database Driver. What to do next?

Hello,
Thank you for your comment. As you said, if delphi native connection or ado is better than odbc, how to configure that. Either of them that you think will be better and easier. Please explain.
Anyway since you already answer this question. And I can startup odbc driver now, by install oracle DB client and did what you told me. I will give you the points for this question and I will give you another points for the next answer.
Thank you,

I have good experience with Direct Oracle Access component that enables connection to Oracle DB without BDE. This component was proved to be faster:

Hello
ADO doesn't require BDE or any component from delphi, but if you want to install it in old windows, like win9x, win nt4, u need to install mdac in the client machine, you will find mdac 2.1 in the delphi cd-rom or u can download the lastest version form microsoft site
and also there's updating for the ADO express from borland

http://www.microsoft.com/data/download_260rtm.htm

go to contorl panel, and than choose 32bit ODBC
in the user DNS tab choose Add, then choose Microsoft ODBC driver for oracle, then click finish
you will see now micosoft odbc driver for oracle setup dialog
in the dialog enter your informations
data source name : choose name to define the odbc for your application ( you will it as alias in BDE
admin.)
description : any thing
user name: any user is exist in the oracle database(Scott for testing)
connection string: choose your oracle server name
I hope that working with you, but anyway, I think if you use delphi native connection or ado to connect
to oracle
database, both of them better and faster than odbc
Best regards
