Page counter in HTML

Using Windows 2000 Server SP1, and IIS...

Can I make available to our clients a free web page counter that they can incorporate into their HTML page?  Is there a free counter with IIS?  If so, can someone provide very detailed, step by step instructions on installing, setting up, and sample HTML code that would accomplish this task?

Tnanks.

Unfortunately I don't trust a beta version of a public counter on our commercial web server.
ok,... but,

you wanted a free counter, and i have used this one for about 6 years with no problems whatsover.

i have no reservations whatsoever in recommending it to anyone.

i suspect that it is labelled public beta to drive home the "i don't want you to hassle me if you can't make it work" status from the guy that maintains it - i do exactly the same thing with most of the stuff i give away for free too! ;-)

cheers.

Yes, I guess.  I was really more interested in the counter that ships with Windows 2000 Server.
well there's microsoft frontpage server extensions - i believe that there is a web counter as part of those components, but i have heard nothing much other than bad reports about it.

maybe check in at the frontpage topic area and ask about it.

regards.
Monroe406:

You have many open questions. I will be posting this comment in all of them:

https://www.experts-exchange.com/jsp/qShow.jsp?ta=win2k&qid=20254049
https://www.experts-exchange.com/jsp/qShow.jsp?ta=win2k&qid=20172013

To assist you in your cleanup, I'm providing the following guidelines:

1.  Stay active in your questions and provide feedback whenever possible. Likewise, when feedback has not been provided by the experts, commenting again makes them receive an email notification, and they may provide you with further information. Experts have no other method of searching for questions in which they have commented, except manually.

2.  Award points by hitting the Accept Comment As Answer button located above and to the left of that expert's comment.

3.  When grading, be sure to read:
https://www.experts-exchange.com/jsp/cmtyQuestAnswer.jsp#3
to ensure that you understand the grading system here at EE. If you grade less than an A, you must explain why.

4.  Questions that were not helpful to you should be PAQ'd (stored in the database for their valuable content?even if not valuable to you) or deleted. To PAQ or delete a question, you must first post your intent in that question to make the experts aware. Then, if no experts object after three full days, you can post a zero-point question at community support to request deletion or PAQ. Please include the link(s) to the question(s).
CS:  https://www.experts-exchange.com/jsp/qList.jsp?ta=commspt
At that point, a moderator can refund your points and PAQ or delete the question for you. The delete button does not work.

5.  If you fail to respond to this cleanup request, I must report you to the Community Support Administrator for further action.

Our intent is to get the questions cleaned up, and not to embarrass or shame anyone. If you have any questions or need further assistance at all, feel free to ask me in this question or post a zero-point question at CS. We are very happy to help you in this task!

thanks!

I am giving notice that no one answered this question correctly, and I will be requesting that it be "PAQ'd"...whatever that means...
Unfortunately, Monroe406, meverest HAS answered your question. You decided to change what you were looking for after meverest provided you with information on your original question.

Again, I don't think you're being fair here. I understand that you DID ask for complete instructions and put a heavy point value on it. If I were you, I would post a zero-point question in this topic area with a link to this one. Perhaps you'll get more responses. Either way, I aim to see that meverest gets SOME points here for the information he did provide in good faith and before you decided to change your question.

thanks!

My question was "Is there a free counter with IIS?"...i.e., that comes WITH IIS... that Microsoft ships with IIS?  No one answered this question in the affirmative, but I have been told that I am not fair, therefore I will award the points even though the question was not answered to my satisfaction.
This was not the answer, but since I have been forced to accept some answer by the moderator of this forum, I chose an answer at random to award the points to.
Hello Monroe406, you has mis-understood the intentions of the Moderator and myself.  We are asking for your help, to do the right thing.  If you did not recieve the correct answer, then explain why.  There is a good chance some of these could result in refunds to you.

But the fact remains that you did abandon the quesiton above, as you did not respond for further help.  Many Experts will think you have your answer, and left with it, and did not award because you did not respond to the last Experts comment.

Accepting answers at random is wrong and unfair, all I asked you to do, was to help by taking care of your abanonded questions, that does not mean you have to accept wrong answers, and this will affect your grading record, which many Experts look at before trying to help.  Many Experts will stay away from bad graders.

There is no need to be angry with those who are trying to help you, all we ask is for you to do the right thing, in accordance with the Member Agreement.
