Client Connection

I have a client connected to a server but in a different domain. I tried to install a client copy on the client then the net8 configration assistant failed to see the server i couldn't make a connection between them then i couldn't connect to any tool
does they must be in the same domain through the network?

No , they don't have to be in the same domain,
just make sure the default domain setting in sqlnet.ora
is correct.
Otherwise give the full name. (like orcl.US.Oracle )

I have rejected your proposed answer as it is anything BUT an answer. Please read the guidelines for posting as answer at the bottom of this page. Most experts never post as an answer, but this can vary among the different topic areas. The idea is that you post as answer if and only if your answer is the only possible answer. Obviously, your comment does not fall under this category. Do not be embarrassed, most everyone gets told this when they first come to EE. I was!
