I have also unzip this on window 2000 with Winzip software and then transfer it to Solaris 8.0 through ftp and after transfering I issue the command

"Pkgadd -d apache-1.3.9-sol8-intel-local" then it comes another error

Pkgadd error: attemt to process datastream failed
- process</usr/bin/cpio -icdumbD -C 512>failed,exit code 1
Pkgadd:ERROR: Unable to unpack datastream

I have installed Solaris 8.0 on my machine four times but problem is still.
Hi,

Did you ftp everything in BINARY mode?  You need to enter 'bin' at the ftp> prompt.

Did you check the file sizes, whether the file is fully downloaded or not. If not download the file again using binary mode and try again.

Try your luck again

yes I download it in binary mode and the size is same.
Do you have enough free space on /var and /usr?

I think apache comes with sol8 OS. but best thing would be to download from www.apache.org. If downloading from sunfreeware.com , please make a note of the file name on the server, and then do a RT Click , SaveLinkAs. and make sure that the file name and extension are same. I have found this problem where a tar.gz file gets saved as a .tar file.
