dial-up problems

hi everybody

my friend has a problem with his dial-up connection. he can dial-up and logon to the ISP without any problems, but there is no data transfer between his PC and the ISP. there is no response for pings to his IP.
he tried diffrent ISPs and he deinstalled and reinstalled the modem and dial-up connection.

any ideas?

ALso check that the dialup is getting the PPP info from the ISP server and that he is not manually putting settings in his TCP/IP properties !!

also check to see if he is using netbios over tcp/ip for the dial up. If so, uncheck it
Is this a server? does he have dns installed on it? If so is this the root server? have him create a forward look up zone to point to his isp's dns
reggler and RideOn are duplicate accounts and have been closed.

Please advise as to who should get the points.
