***There are two identicly started threads, be aware that some comments may only be in one of tyhe threads***

There are utilities that can read NTFS in Windows, but they are mostly read only and can lead to corruption if not used properly.

An example is NTFS-DOS from (www.sysinternals.com).

Most of these utilities can't read Windows 2000 NTFS2.

If you think this answer is a text-book response, it is...from the book 'The Windows NT and Windows 2000 Answer Book' by John Savill. Most of the book's information is kept on the website www.ntfaq.com

A place to search are:

www.download.com

(I would have submitted this as an answer however more people could suggest more places to look or have specific comments on a particular tool that could be more helpful)

Allanh, given the fact that AdamWoodland posted before you and provided accurate information as to how this could be achieved by the questioner, your post indicating that it could not be done was inappropriate. Furthermore, since you also noted that the questioner inadvertanly posted duplicate questions for the same issue, you shouldn't have posted an answer at all. Kindly withdraw your answer.

bartic, follow AdamWoodlands thread. Sysinternals has a small add-on you can use to read ntfs volumes that is free, and one that you can use to manipulate files from Win98 in ntfs volumes.

Bartic, did you try AdamWoodlands suggestion before merely accepting allanh's proposed answer? It is a bit unfair to accept a wrong answer on this issue.
Hmm - my chance at getting my first point, ah well, if he got his information thats all that matters really, even if he did do it the hard way.
Adam, I've asked E&E staff to review this Q. Your post was the correct one.
