what is the difference between production and pre-production environment of an dba oracle10g

Generally these terms
Production: The environment where the actual business data resides and where the actual transactions are happening from the end users.
Pre-Production: An environment with exact similar structure as that of production env, But not with complete data as that of production. Used to do the final testing of code/structural changes that are going to be applied to production.

Now, what exactly is the question for?

Actually i got  a project as an oracle dba mostly of pre-production..
