Smb ftp error 016-783 on Dell MFP Laser 3115cn
Hello,
I'm trying to set-up a networked Dell Laser 3115cn to scan to a shared folder on the server. I'm constantly running into this error "SMB FTP error 016-783". I've searched the Dell community forums and there were a few posts....thier advice did not work. Does anyone have any insight to what the error code means?
Thanks

Thanks for the responses. wyliecoyoteuk I am running Server 2003 Standard and I believe you solution will fix the problem. I'll be testing/implementing that later this week so I'll get back to you. Thanks!!
capitalcitycomputers last post indicates that wyliecoyoteuk's post looks like it will fix their problem. I'd suggest acceptance of 20700842.

Just an addon solution here -
I was getting the same error. I have my shared folder in the drive ROOT on my 2003 Small Biz server. After tons of errors, turns out the solution was to leave the path blank.
As in, the shared folder was called "Scans."
The path to it from the server is C:\Scans
Leave Path blank
Put "Scans" into the shared folder. :)

Well, the remote path would have been \\servername\scans, so that makes sense.
Actually some network scan software will not save to the root of mapped drives either.

Phaser 6180 MFP, XP Pro, leave Server Path blank. Agreed. That's what I needed to see. Thanks!

Make sure the credentials you are sending from on the 3115 (login name and password) are included in those given full permissions to the shared folder.
If you're having problems setting up the login credentials, you can chat with a Dell tech at this link:
