Restore a Symbol MC3090 to factory state windows CE

We have several symbol MC3090 handhelp scan guns. They are made under motorola but markets as symbol. It runs windows ce currently. Does anyone know how i can reset this to factory the day i got them. Having some issues with programs and uninstall/reinstall not doing the trick. I am not talking about the warm boot, or even the cold boot 1,9 red button processes. Actually wiping it back to original state? Thanks eveyone!

Hi,
you say you have tried the hard reset (Press and simultaneously hold the 1, 9 and Power keys). After the Symbol splash screen, did the Calibration screen appeared or not. If not then the PDA did not perform a hard reset. If you actually performed a hard reset and still got some apps installed then you must perform a OS platform update to restore the factory OS.

yes i got the calibration and yes that is what i need instrcutions on how to do the restore to factory os.

http://support.symbol.com -> Software Downloads -> Mobile Computers -> MC3000.
Press "More" in the bottom of page, then select
"Device Configuration Package v1.8 for MC3000c50 Core (BSP35.0)" (or Professional, depending on your MC3000 version)

Then choose the "OSUpdate package for MC30XX...." (NOT hex images).

You'll have to unzip the file on "\Temp" directory, or on a SD Flash card, then double-click on:
"30xxc50BenColor_SD.lnk" or "30xxc50BenColor_TEMP.lnk".

If you have difficulties getting the "OSUpdate" files, let me know (I have it on my HD).

yeah i cant log in it keeps asking me for a support logon but it wont let me make one. Wow that was a great answer nasdron! But that looks like what i may need. I heard after you reboot if you hold down the trigger it gets you to the menu where you would start loading the software you are referring to?

im not even sure what it is as far as pro, the properties of the working one say oem name symbol mc3000c50b nothing i can see about pro etc..??

- About Core or Pro: remove the battery and look at the Microsoft label.
- About upgrade: here are the update files for "Pro": http://www.megaupload.com/?d=70CNKGH6
The easiest way to upgrade (and restore the flash as factory default) is to use a SD flash with the "OSUpdate" folder copied on root directory.
The procedure you heard (IPL Menu) is much more complicated, and should only be used if the MC3000 does not boot anymore into Windows CE.

Good answer, symbols handhelds are not widely used, glad to find a smart person who knew how to use these.

Hello, sorry to bring up this old thread, but i have the same problem. The Unit says Booting System ... and nothing happens. Have tried 1+9+Power, but with no result. The links posted are not more valid. Does someone have any idea?
