rj11 pinout to rj45 jack

I have a phone line and I want to wire to a rj45. What is the pinout from rj11 to rj45. My phone line has 4 wire (black, red, green, and blue). I tried red to slot4 (rj45-blue), green to slot6 (rj45-orange), black to slot3 (rj45-white/orange), yellow to slot5 (rj45-white/blue). I am using rj45 T568A. It does not work. Can somebody helps me out? Thanks

Need more details.  A POTS (Plain old telephone system) line uses the middle two (red and green) for dialtone on Line 1.  If you have a second line, then you use the outer two wires for that.  How you wire the RJ45 depends entirely what it's connecting TO.  One end is the phone... what's the other end?
Take a look at this site:

I believe you'll want pins 1,2,3 and 6 mapped straight through on both sides, unless you need crossover in that case you'll want to cross 1 & 2, 3 & 6 on one end (crossover for direct pc to pc connections, etc, not needed for pc to switch, or pc to router/modem)

I only have one phone line coming in the house. No idea what is at the other end.
"want pins 1,2,3 and 6 mapped straight through on both sides..." => I understand that but if you want to wire a cat5 cable. In my case this is what I have:
other end of the phone line <---phone line cable---->rj45 connector<--->my phone.
I want to wire the phone line cable to the rj45 connector.

Thanks

I plug green to blue rj45, red to blue/white rj45, black to orange rj45, and yellow to orange/white. It works.
