OSX Leopard 10.5 Deploy Studio - machine keeps restarting

Hello all - I have had yet another zaney adventure with imaging macs!
So I am using deploy studio which til this point has been working great.
However, I am imaging an imac 10.5.8 I have the image machine ready and have booted to the deploy studio netboot and created the master 3 times now.
Afterwards when I deploy it to other imacs they all automatically restart every 1-2 minutes or so.
Anyone have any idea what could be causing this?
I have imaged macbooks and they are not showing this symptom.

Check the system.log for more details, the machines are not restarting without reason

WHen you say they are rebooting every 1-2 minutes, do you mean during the deployment , or after the image has deployed ?
What kind of mac are you creating your master image from? Is it the same or better than the imacs you are deploying the image to?

After the image is deployed the machine starts as it is supposed to and gets to the log in screen.  Then it will restart, even if you are trying to log in.
I would check the system.log file if I could keep the system on long enough to do it.
The mac I am creating the image from is identical to the other macs.  All bought at the same time, all speced out the same.
And the deploystudio media set, is it higher than the version of the OS your deploying? Will it make a difference by starting the macs in single user or verbose mode ?

Press Shift during startup      Start up in Safe Boot mode and temporarily disable login items.
Press Command-V during startup      Start up in Verbose mode.
Press Command-S during startup      Start up in Single-User mode.

At least this may allow us to gain some understanding of why the reboot is happening.

OK it runs in safeboot fine.
In Safe Boot it boots up and has no problem but I can't find a system.log file
Will boot into Single-User mode and not restart until I exit.  Then after it is at the login screen it shows the text for a sec and I see a brief kill command and the machine restarts.
In Verbose mode it does the same thing when it gets to the login screen but gives me time to actually see it, at least part of it.  here is what it says...

syncing disks... Killing all processes kextcache[26]: didn't act on SIGTERM
then is gives something that I can't get because it goes by too fast and the machine reboots.

In safe boot I tried repairing disk permissions and that made no difference either.
/var/log/system.log

There is a command:
sudo dmesg
which prints all messages since boot, it could be helpful to track this problem down.

I believe that your deploy image is bad or not prepared for the right version of Mac. The issue here is kextcache or some of the kernel drivers which didn't load up correctly. Try to delete Extensions.kextcache and Extensions.mkext

If it will not work I would try to remove the whole directory of caches located at /System/Library/Cache and /Library/Cache
On the workflow for deploying your image, can you paste a screen shot of the option for the deploy task, just want to check the image i.e all byhost stuff is being stripped.

robert -  Clearing those Cache folders didn't do anything.  I still need to check the log file
Woolnoir - I am not using the System Image Utility.  I am using Deploy studio.

To add to the fun. I used Carbon Copy Cloner and cloned my image prep machine to another desktop and that desktop boots fine w/o restarting constantly.
I did verify that all the specs match on all these imacs.
Woolnoir - I am not using the System Image Utility.  I am using Deploy studio. > i didntnt mention system image utility ?
by image i was referring to the thing that deploy studio applies to the machine , a 'master' in DS speak :)

Wool - I am using the standard setup form DS. The only thing I am changing when I create a master is the name.  I would send you a screen shot but the bastard macs aren't letting me load experts exchange.  Says I need to enable cookies when they are already on.
On another note - the laptops that I am imaging the same way as I am the desktops have worked fine.  It is just these desktops :(
Are they new imacs ? as in the newest model. I'm just wondering since ive always had issues applying older versions of OSX (i.e BEFORE the machines were released) as it introduces driver issues etc. I notice your using 10.5.8 - how is the release date on this, compared to the imac's ? it may work on the laptops due to them being older than 10.5.8 ?

What a strange problem, this was a fun read, but didn't you say that CCC worked perfectly? Why not just use that. Its even free. I love CCC.

Chris - I have 30 desktops to image and 80 laptops.  That is why I don't use CCC for them.  CCC is always my back up though.
Wow, gotcha.

and Robert gets the prize.
This file com.deploystudio.finalize un the Launch Daemons folder was causing the reboot.  Deleted that and everything went beautifully.

Thanks to everyone for the suggestions and help.
