Migrate FreeBSD Samba v2 PDC to Linux Samba v3
Hi,
I have an ancient FreeBSD 4.11 machine acting as a domain controller and file server for around 10 XP Pro computers, whose user profiles are also stored on the server and mounted with a logon script.
We're replacing the hardware, and of course upgrading the OS at the same time. I'm thinking about installing Debian Lenny instead of FreeBSD this time and definitely moving to Samba v3.
Once I get the new machine up an running, how do I migrate users, machine identities and passwords?
Or if I start from scratch and create new users and machine accounts, will there be problems with the user's profiles due to changed SID's?
Thanks.
