Word cannot start the converter Wordcnvpxy.cnv
We are still uising word 2003. We keep getting docx files which we have some compatibility pack on each machine that allows us to open them. However, we can open them from the desktop, but when we upload the docs to a 2003 file server we always get the error "Word cannot start the converter Wordcnvpxy.cnv " then it attempts some encoding. Why could this be? Why can we open it from the desktop but not the server file share.

Cheers Chetan.
So how come if I have the docx on my desktop it opens fine, but when i try and open it on the server it plays up with that error?
Is installing the comp pack on the server neccesary? Or if you open a docx on a file server isnt it just your pc's comp pack being called into action, not the server?

We have it on the desktop and it opens, add it to the server, and cant open it.
Are you saying you need the comp pack on the server? As I already said above we have the pack on the desktop.
