Samsung Galaxy Note 2 - how to get keyboard back? Stuck in handwriting mode.

Before I smash my new phone I have to calm down and ask the question. How the hell do I get the typing keyboard back.
I'm too frustrated to approach it rationally anymore. I just can't believe there is not an easy way to flip back.

I can see other people have had the same however the method for recommended below does not work for me as I don't have a "tap to compose" button (I think the below was for a similar phone):

So generally now whenever I go to compose a message or type any input, it ONLY offers me hand writing mode.

I have attached some screen shots. I welcome any comments before I waste £500 by smashing the device to pieces.

OK Maybe panic over. If you find yourself in the same situation, before you smash your phone, turn it off and on again.
Viola, back to normal wiht an option to flip. I guess the part of the app which offers the option to flip had crashed.
But not the sort of thing you would need to reboot your device for.
I'll keep this open in case anyone else has had similar issues or has suggestions.

i have seen it absolutely loads on smart phones, tablets, computers, software, network routers
i agree some part of the app / system has crashed turning it off resets the system back to normal its the first question from a help desk for any device imho

Should always try restart before asking but I was so frustated with it.

yes learn from this issue its always better first to try switch off and on that fixes loads of problems
