Clearing an IPAD with forgotten email and apple ID
Here's a fun one guys! I received a legit iPad and the owner of the company cannot remember the username or password for the iPad. I am dead in the water...oh and its old so there is no receipt. I did a reset and no matter what you do it asks you for a password. Any ideas!!?
Does he have is Apple ID ?
Go to iCloud site using his Apple ID and find my iPhone
Then you will see the iPad in there you can force a total wipe of the iPad
If you he does not have Apple ID or forgot password for the Apple ID contact apple support they have ways around Apple ID issues

Yes tried the factory restore several times. He doesn't remember his apple ID so that is out too....I can try to call Apple for him
Does he have an iPhone?
If he does I am guessing the same Apple ID was used
Check that use ICloud site to try logon to
Yes call apple or go to the local Apple Store

Instruction to restore IPAD after password locked, etc.
Power off the ipad.
Plug the IPad into a PC with ITUNES. Then at the same time press the home and the power/sleep button and continue holding both until you see the apple logo, let go the power button while holding the home button.
Itunes will notify you that it see a device in recovery mode. hit restore and that should restore the ipad to its "original state".
Checking with Apple store depending on the age might be a better/less risky.

Thanks guys but tried all of this. Doing a factory reset, etc is not a problem the problem is it doesn't completely wipe the prompt for an icloud/itunes logon, etc and I have none of these so this thing is a paperweight.
You are running into the functionality the Apple implemented starting with iOS 7 called Activation Lock. Activation lock is enabled via turning on the "Find my iPhone" feature.
It's goal is to help prevent theft (yes, I understand you have your device legitimately) by doing exactly as it is doing; even in the event of a factory reset, the device is disabled until the password associated with the AppleID/iCloud account is entered.
Apple will not help you - because what's to say that you didn't steal the device? At this point, your only recourse is to have the previous owner remember the AppleID and reset the password so you can unlock it.

Thanks Geisrud: that sticks, Apple has you guilty until proven innocent I guess. This isn't my device I was doing a favor for someone but its legitimately theirs. Sad that I have to tell them they are SOL! Thanks Apple!
I am telling you that apple will fix it for you
We had that same problem went to the Apple Store and they fixed it

It's worth a shot.
In my own meetings with the Apple Business team, they reluctantly admitted that they do have the capability to circumvent Activation Lock. In the same mumbled breath, they also said that proof of ownership was required.

Usually when it prompts for the credentials, the email addressed of the iCloud account is part of the inquiry.
Have the person check with apple and see what options they have.
Using the sn#, they might be able to identify the iCloud account.
