laptop - Will connecting your internet via wirelessly to Router 1 and Ehternet to router 2 at the same time cause probs ?

Two routers in a coffee shop business.

Separate phone line ADSL > Router 1 Private
Separate phone line ADSL > Router 2 Public for customers

Business laptop is always connected via ehternet to Router 1.
If www doenst work on Router 1 workers in the office (not custoners) are wirelessly connecting to Router 2.  while leaving the Ethernet cable in.

Does this cause <possible> networking probs for workers on the business laptop on router 2 as the laptop is now connected on two routers at the same time.

Im going to disable wireless on the laptop and give them one spare cable for each router as a back up plan if broadband fails, that way it rules this out.

They are having intermittent www issues and Im wondering is/was this a poss cause.

A laptop will always ONLY USE ONE connection, even if both are connected. Windows is usually smart enough to chose the LAN over wifi.

In theory what you want to do will work because both sides will handle default routes 0.0.0.0/0

What you can do is set the Automatic metric section on the LAN and Wifi interface to different values.

LAN= Primary; metric 10
Wifi= Secondary; metric 20

Not 100% sure how the fail-over will work. But play around with it you wont break anything.

As the laptop never leaves the building and there are several people using the Laptop at different times beside both routers Ive disabled wireless to rule out a possible clash / problem.

It also rules out a security issue of connecting a work laptop to a public wifi intended router
