DVD file size 9gb

Dear experts,

Here is my situation:

1.      I have few set of DVD files on my hard disk which is roughly 9gb in size
2.      I am not aware if there if there are DVDs which can be used to burn 9gb file size either on 1. Single side or 2. Double side
3.      Further how do I find out if my laptop can burn DVD on only single or can burn on both sides
4.      Also if my laptop can play dual side DVD, assuming I get the DVD burnt from outside help.

Kindly can anyone please spare and provide me information/suggestions on the above.

A DL DVD can hold 8.5 but the most common disc that you can get at the best price holds 4.7 GB.  I would just use standard DVD discs and burn it on two or use a USB drive to store the information.

You may want to invest in a Blu-Ray burner, which will have a standard capacity of 25 GB and extended capacity of 50 GB and larger per disc. See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Blu-ray for a quick overview.

Dear all,

Thank you I will provide the answers to the questions some of you have posted, today evening.

Thank you
Dear all,

Ok one correction the size of the folder is 7.5 gb, so a dual dvd can accommodate the folder size.

Next, the DVD player reads (on the slide side) RW/DVD/Multi recording.

Is there anyway, other than the print info, from the system information I can determine if it has the dual playing feature.

Thank you
The burning software that came with your drive may tell you. There is usually information on the manufacturer's website if you search for the particular model of drive you have. There is also software that can give you very specific capabilities, such as the trial version of http://www.dvdinfopro.com/.

Do you have any DVD recording software on this laptop? If yes then start recording. I think your DVD-ROM can record DL drives.
"... Is there anyway, other than the print info, from the system information I can determine if it has the dual playing feature. "  ==>  ALL DVD drives can PLAY dual layer disks ... this is part of the DVD standard and dual layer disks have been around for well over a decade.

The question is whether or not you can RECORD to dual layer media ... you can either look up the make/model of your drive and see what its characteristics are; or you can look at your burning software and see if it shows support for dual layer media.
