Is there a way to re-enable a mailbox on Exchange 2010 and Outlook 2010?

I have a user whom left and his mailbox was disabled, but over a month later he is coming back part time?   I have re-enabled his network account in AD, but when I go into Exchange Management Console I don't see him listed in disconnected mailboxes ?   I tried to go in and add a new mailbox but it says that it is still out there?    Should I disable his AD account first and then try the new mailbox?

Looked at both of those earlier and doesn't help due to the mailbox isn't showing up in disconnected mailboxes?

When I initiate a search, his name doesn't even show up?

But when I go into Active Directory he is there, just not on exchange.
when you tried to add a new mailbox what was the actual error it threw?
I was able to add new mailbox and then clicked on existing user....added the credentials and then I was good to go.... YAY !!!    You helped me thanks, otherwise I wouldn't have gone back in  and tried to get the error !!!
Thanks,
Kim
