Why in Windows Media Classic, I cannot Save Thumbnails?

I'm using Windows Media Classic current version.

When playing a movie or DVD when I go to File.. Save Thumbnails, Save Thumbnails is grayed out but I can save Image.

Why is Save Thumbnails is grayed out? And how do I enable this feature?

Does VLC have this feature?

For me it is working. Do you have the same version?

MPC-HC (Nightly)
----------------

Build information:
    Version:            1.7.10.40 (847313a)
Compiler:           MSVC 2015 Update 1 (SSE)
    Build date:         Dec 23 2015

LAV Filters:
    LAV Splitter:       0.67.0.30
    LAV Video:          0.67.0.30
    LAV Audio:          0.67.0.30
    FFmpeg compiler:    MinGW-w64 GCC 5.3.0

I also see this on the developers homepage:
The solution is to change the video renderer. A few of the renderers are not compatible with the image saving and save Thumbnails functionality of Media Player Classic. Renderers that are not compatible are Overlay Mixer and madVR.

You can change the video renderer here: MPC Options -> Playback -> Output -> DirectShow Video.

Does VLC have this feature?

Yes.

ASKER

I'm using the same version as you.

I want to make a thumbnail image from a DVD movie, not from a single video file like a .mp4 etc.

I want to make a thumbnail image example like this: User generated image Not a single image capture.
