Some of our Terminal Servers ran Windows Updates last night which has caused word to use in excessive amount of the CPU. The issue appears to happen when the users start typing into word it starts using 10-90% of the CPU. We have tried rolling back the updates, reinstalling Office 2013, and checked print drivers with no luck. Any ideas? Thank you ahead of time.
The issue occurs in safe mode, regardless of printer set to default, and occasionally after typing it will spike to 100% for a few minutes.

It seems to occur in /safe and /a modes as well so we've ruled out add-ins. Â On a fresh TS with newest updates and office it occurs as well. Â If anyone has found a good workaround that would be ideal.
As a last resort you can call Microsoft. They sometimes provide up to 3 technical support issues per customer per year. You might want to look into that. They have experts who can log into your server and figure it out.

Thanks for jumping in on the issue anyways.

Microsoft Word is a commercial document editing program that is part of the Microsoft Office suite. It features numerous text-editing tools for creating richly formatted documents, along with tools for the use of macros in Word documents. Word's native file formats are denoted either by a .doc or .docx file extension. Plugins permitting the Windows versions of Word to read and write formats it does not natively support, such as the OpenDocument format (ODF) are available. Word can import and display images in common bitmap formats such as JPG and GIF. It can also be used to create and display simple line-art.
