I would like to know if there is a program anywhere to test my hdd as when I boot up my pc it stays on the windows start up page for about 5 mins then says.........

Is it nessasary to have a MBR on a mass storage drive and could this cause a conflict on bootup when it fails to find an OS on the storage drive.
