If i have a ulimit on the stack set to 8192K and then set the Java mem (using -Xs8192k) (and im assuming other programs too) then on startup i blows.
Any ideas why this is? should it not work up...

How do I set "ulimit -n 5000" in perl so that it
takes affect for child processes.
I tried `ulimit -n 5000` (backtics) but a
subsequent `ulimit -n` showed the value
set back to the default.
