MMC Snap-In in VB

I am starting a project on Snap-In designers in VB.
I want to know :
1. What is a snap-In
2. How is it different from an Active-X Control because a snap-In project also compiles to an OCX.
3. What is MMC and why it is used in a typical VB project.
4. What other things can be done with VB and MMC.
5. Tell me a few good URL's where I can see the programming of MMC Snap-In's in VB.

excuse me for being a little off-topic, but personally I think the MMC is the most evil piece of crap microsoft have ever invented.

I believe that MMC has been abandoned by MS as well...

It seemed like a good idea at the time, but then somenoe woke up.

mcoop, thank god for that, I didn't realise! Since when?
Some developers in our group were writing some support apps for their product, and were researching and starting work on MMC plug-ins.

About 3 months later (2 months ago) I was talknig to them again, and they passed on that little nugget.

In the earlier conversation, I was also pleased to hear that MDI is on the way out to be replaced by multiple windows of the same app... (MWI ?)  I never could guarantee to keep track of what was associated with each document window, and I hit one app which was perfect for MDI - but impossible to implement as it kept a common history and attributes list which kept swapping - depending on the active window !

OK, back to the question for our esteemed friend
