Unremoveable Camera Icon in C: Root

I have a camera icon in my C: root which is labelled "My Digital Camera". I cannot left-click on it. When I right click on it, it only offers Explore/Open/Create Shortcut and Properties is blanked out, so I do not know what it is.

From "My Computer" it says this is a "system folder".

I cannot see it when in DOS mode, and do not know where to locate it using regedit. My virus-checker hasn't detected it as a virus.

What is it? And how do I remove it?

First make sure no program is running that may be using that file, hit (Ctrl,Alt,Delete) and end task on everything except EXPLORER, then find that file and see if it can be deleted now.

Do you have a program that prevents you from deleting or changing a system file? if so then make sure it is disabled.
what does it do when you right click and select open/explore ?     also do you have any kind of software installed (some kind of photo software/program ) that may have added the icon ? if so maybe uninstall it..  do you or have you had a camera hooked up to the comp ?

also in dos mode it prob is listed as something like this  My digi~1 or something simualer to that
What kind of Internet connection do you have? The reason for the question is that your system may have been hacked. Hackers can take already existing folders or files or create them on the fly and make them either inaccessible or undeletable in the customary way. There are ways to regain control of a hacked folder or file so do you think your system has been hacked.

When I right click and select open/explore Explorer and all directory just *blinks* and nothing happens.

I have Adobe Photoshop/Image Ready software installed. I do not use a digital camera and have never loaded software of that kind. In DOS, there is My Dig~ folder but there is an IMAGE.DAT file that I can't remove either.

My connection is 56kbps but I often only get speeds of 33.6kbps.

just a guess but Adobe Photoshop/Image Ready software  is prob what made the icon and image.dat file  so if you delete them the program may or may not work ..uninstalling the program will more than likely get rid of that icon/file or at least let you delete them..if you dont want to uninstall the program then I suspect you will have to leave them

You should be able to use TweakUI to remove this file in the Desktop tab:

http://www.microsoft.com/ntworkstation/downloads/powertoys/networking/nttweakui.asp

Otherwise, restart in DOS mode.  Type these commands, pressing enter after each line (Make sure that the folder is actually called mydig~ because Win95 "short file names" for this folder should make it mydigi~1 because you get the first 6 letters then ~1.  To check it, right click it in Windows Explorer, then Properties.  You should see the DOS name for the file on the General tab.  In that case, replace the mydigi~1 entries in the commands below with whatever DOS name is listed):

c:
cd \
cd mydigi~1
attrib -r -h -s image.dat
del image.dat
cd..
attrib -r -h -s MyDigi~1
del mydigi~1

---------
Now do a ctrl-alt-del and reboot, the file should be gone!
