Error on Startup
When I boot my Windows 98 SE machine, I get the following error:
"invalid backweb application id "8263142"
I click OK and it goes away and everything works fine.
I could not find anything on Technet.
I would appreciate any help.

Is this for a program you installed? and maybe uninstalled?
Go to START, then RUN, type MSCONFIG and hit enter, now click on the "startup" tab
Look down the list of programs that are loading at boot up, look for the one that has the " backweb application " mentioned and uncheck that program
If you can't find any you think it is then lets do a test to be sure it is something loading at boot.
Uncheck everything except "systray" then when it ask to reboot, let it and see if error is gone
If it is then go back into MSCONFIG and check each item, one at a time and reboot and see where the error shows up at.

Are you running PWS on this machine?
Backweb might be part of your HP auto-update.
First check control panel -- add/remove programs and see if you can uninstall it from there.
If not:
There should be a backweb uninstall string listed here in the registry -
Go to Start | Run | Regedit
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWAR
Look for an uninstall key in the backweb folder.
You can copy that string into Start | run and it should uninstall Backweb.

I for one object to the simple deleting of this question, there has been much time spent on troubleshooting this with complete lack of feedback from the user. I feel points split would be better.
