How do I rid myself of the "<>" column in a crosstab. What is that column called? Why is it there?

When I do a crosstab query on a certain table, I get a "<>" column in addition to the expected column headers. Why? What is this column called? What is it about the particular structure of this query that elicits this?

This is driving me bonkers. Especially given that I can't search the internet for "<>" ("Your search - "<>" - did not match any documents.").

Please post the SQL statement for your crosstab query.  You can get it by switching to the query's SQL view.

Aah, very interesting. Thank you for the illustrative link! Helping me understand that helped me eliminate some rather ill-behaved data from my table.
thanks!
