Access "Data provider could not be initialized"

Here is the scenario:

Someone programmed an application in access that sits on each individuals desktop but connects to an SQL 2000 Database on a remote server.

All users use VPN access to connect to SQL 2000.

All users can connect succesfully to the server with their VPN connection, however, they have one workstation in which they receive an error message via pop-up window that says "Data provider could not be initialized" and then you press "ok". No other error message is provided.

This person could connect succesfully in the past.

I am hoping for access/SQL programmers this is easy.

Suggestions?

Nothing new has been installed to the best of my knowledge or at least nothing any different from any of the other workstations running the application.

The machine in question is Windows XP and when I tried to install the latest version of MDAC it said something about it already being a native product to the OS and would not let me install it? Does that sound right?

Thanks.
Hmm .. never seen that on e before. Try running the ComponentChecker, see what it says. You can find the download link at the same page, about halfway down.
Thanks for your help. I won't be at this client site until next week so I'll reply then.
