How to Show contents of a shared drive in Page Viewer Web Part?...

Hello and Thank You for reading...

I am trying to show the entire contents (folders/files) for a drive full of shared information in a Page Viewer Web Part.

URL option works fine in web part, but I a) cannot get it to show the contents of a folder and b) am not sure how to point to web part to the drive letter of the shared drive.

I basically want to replace use of windows explorer for browsing this drive via Sharepoint and the page viewer web part.

I followed a sharepoint guide to test viewing a folder in the web part, by using explorer to browse to C:\InetPub, copy the path to the folder, then paste it in the 'Folder' option in the web part. It did not work.

The web part just stays blank. It would be such a boost to browse our shared drive from the root of the drive, just like browsing it from explorer, but within Sharepoint.

Any suggestions very welcome and appreciated.

Hello olafdc...

Thank you for the heads up, but I dont think this relates so much to what I want to achieve.

I do not want to add th folder to any document libraries, I more so want the Page Viewer Web part to BE my shortcut (via the intranet interface) to the folders on the drive.

With this web part, I understand I can open, read, write and save files/folders all through the sharepoint interface by poiting the page viewer web part to a drive location. I am looking for direct instruction/troubleshooting for how to achieve this, as on my system, it isnt working.

All the very best to you, and cheers for you good read =). I'll have the document you gave in mind...
I am confused. Can't you just import these files in sharepoint?

Hello Olaf,

No, I dont want to import them, I want to use the Page Viewer Web Part essentially as a 'window' for browsing a shared disk as you would with Windows Explorer.

If you use the Page Viewer Web Part you will see what I mean, and what I should be able to achieve.

All the best...

It may be worth noting that the drive I want to view is a local drive. It is not a network or mapped drive. I want to view local disk D: in Page Viewer Web part
