You can place the folder in another location by modify registry
[HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders]
Create a new string value named "My Music" and point it to the folder you want to use.

To deploy it in the AD, you can use GPOs by creating a custom administrative template that sets the registry value.
You can exclude any folders you want from redirection via group policy.

Go to user settings, admin templates, user profiles , and exclude directories in roaming profile.

Thats assuming your using roaming profiles as well.
heres a link for how to make the custom ADM template that henjoh09 mentions.

plug1,
You replied "heres a link for how to make the custom ADM template that henjoh09 mentions", but you included no link.  However, I have already delved into this solution and if the link you mention is simply for an ADM template to create the "My Music" shell folder in a new location, I 've already done that.  This solution seems to work fine for a new computer, but the problem is that it will not relocate files that already exist in the original My Music folder, meaning we would potentially have to manually move the music files on hundreds, if not thousands of computers.
Yes, the registry hack will only work for new profiles. For existing profiles, you nead to complete it with some scripting for moving the files.

In Windows Vista/2008, you can use the normal Folder Redirection for all profile-folders (Music,Favorites etc).
Sorry Edward I didnt realise, in that case the script needed to move these shouldnt be too complex. I dont think you even need to do it in VBScript tbh, a batch file would suffice.

I have this same question - hope its okay if I don't start a new thread.  I have this configured to redirect my music to the users desktop - it creates a my music folder on the desktop ONLY for new users.  Profiles for existing users placed under the same policy remain as they were before it was put in place. I have the entry aimed at Shell folders. It appears there and in User Shell Folders in a new account but appears only in User Shell Folders in existing users - with no path entry in Shell Folders after My Music.
This appears to be a widespread problem that Microsoft is not interested in addressing.  A simple solution to exclude folders from a Redirect GPO is apparently more difficult than it seems.
