Cannot Uninstall exchange 2007

I have a install of exchange 2007 on server 2008 that was installed in a remote site that never worked correctly so I am trying to uninstall. It was talking to exchange 2003 in the main site. I have removed public folders using the exchange shell however I still get this - Error:
Uninstall cannot continue. Database 'Public Folder Database 1574978715': The public folder database "Public Folder Database 1574978715" contains folder replicas. Before deleting the public folder database, remove the folders or move the replicas to another public folder database.

I have run necessary scripts to move everything (waited 24 hrs), but I still get an error. I have used adsiedit to manually delete the public folder on that server in configuration mode.

I am running out of time and would like to be able to remove it out of the domain gracefully.

I am just about to cut over to 2010 in the main site (currently coexisting with 2003 with no problem).

Am I better to totally wipe the whole exchange environment and migrate data back in using GRE. I am worried about the legacy that will leave in the AD environment.

Please help exchange gurus.

Bah, damm my nimble fingers...

If you have the same AD across both sites,I would strongly advise against not doing a graceful uninstall

Just had a win. Get-PublicFolderStatistics -Server to me that there was still 2 public folders in routing and admin groups although they did not appear in GUI or by command to list. I hacked all containers out with ADSIedit waited for AD to replicate to main site to see the changes had been applied. Ran uninstall again and WOOOOHOOO. I can go to bed now.  I will be cutting over to 2010 in main site the will install 2010 in this site. Any suggestions, tips or tricks will be greatly appreciated.

ArneLovius-  I agree that option really scared me

I've requested that this question be closed as follows:

for the following reason:

If you are having issues uninstalling exchange 2007 brush up on ADSIedit. Then manually remove the necessary attributes. The command in the shell that led me to the correct thing to delete was Get-PublicFolderStatistics<wbr /> -Server &lt;servername&gt; Shell and GUI can be misleading. They displayed nothing under public folders ADSI edit did. I think it may have been created by having 2003 and 2007 not replicating correctly in the first place.
The command used is on the page that I posted a link to...
