Windows Modules Installer stopped working during Vista Ultimate 64-Bit SP1 installation
Hi,
I've tried installing Windows Vista Ultimate 64-Bit SP1 installation but unfortunately it keeps on recieving a problem message "Windows Modules Installer has stopped working" and the installation status gets stucked forever. I've tried the suggested solution from microsoft (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947366) but nothing solves my problem.
My system is...
(Gigabyte GA-EX38-DS5; Intel E8400; Corsair Dominator PC8500 (4x1GB); Sapphire ATI HD4870; Samsung Spinpoint 500GB; Antec TPQ 850W, MS Windows Vista Ultimate 64-Bit, etc...)
Any help or suggestion is greatly appeciated.

Hi there,
Make sure the "Windows modules installer" service is not disabled.
Log on as an Administrator -
Start button || Control Panel ||System and Maintenance ||Administrative Tools
Double-click Services
(Provide the Administrator password or confirmation if prompted to do so.)
Right-click the "Windows Modules Installer" service, and select Properties.
Select General tab - make sure that Startup type is Manual.

Thanks for that...worst scneario, if we've exhausted all ideas i could try to reformat and reinstall the OS, then the SP1 upgrade before installing any application to my machine. Darn i hate this option.

I'll close this one...even tech from MS suggested a reformat. Hence i'll reformat and reinstall everything.
