UAC Whilelist?
Dear experts,
I like the UAC feature in Vista and Win7, but is it possible to create a "whilelist" so that I can allow certain program to run without being checked/blocked? For example, everytime when I launch Firefox it prompts me to click allow access (something like that).
I understand it is a safety feature and I appreciate it. But wouldn't it be more sensible to allow advance users to maintain a whilelist? I don't want to turn it off though.
Can anyone tell me is that "doable" in Vista and/or Windows 7?
Thanks.

Although no whitlist you can adjust it's settings. Click start > type uac in the search box and press enter. Use the slider to adjust the settings to fit your need. You can even turn it off if you wish.
Yes, this is what I was referring to in my post. It is only available for Windows 7 - Vista is only on/off.

I think you are right. My Windows7 laptop is "creating" its own list so having open a program it remembers it and put that on the whitelist. But not for my Vista PC though.

Probably not what I am looking for, but will give that a try to see how it goes.
The control in Windows 7 is somewhat variable in contrast to Vista which was on/off. So Windows 7 may be closer to what you want. ... Thinkpads_User
