Reliable SEO companies
One of our clients is currently looking to outsource the SEO for their site.
They're fairly large, and my biggest concern is that they don't get ripped off. (They have been told to use DoubleClick as one option) I wasn't even aware that Double-Click was involved in SEO...
At any rate, from our perspective, proper SEO has to begin at home.
The site uses a CMS to generate dynamic content - URL's are in the form of:
http://ww2.domain.com/Page.asp?PageID=10&ArticleID=1010&Src=section1
Further, the fairly long stylesheet and some js code are printed to the top of the page with multiple document.write statements. (That can't be helping.)
Alt text, at least, is used extensively on the numerous navigation images.
Is there a question coming soon?
Yes :-)
Given what you know about SEO (and the companies that charge for it) are there some basic recommendations we can make that would help them get the best bang for their buck?
Is there such a thing as a truly worthwhile SEO company. I assume this company would never guarantee anything...
Thanks so much,
Sean

Thanks rsdn, actually I was hoping for something a little more specific.
The list of SEO companies I can get from a simple Google Search :-)
You meantion that list of articles is "good" Why do you say that, and on what opinion do you base that conclusion on?
I'm hoping to get some specific expertise on which companies are worthwhile (from experience) and what are the best recommendations that I should be making to the client whether they should be paying an outside company for this type of service.
Thanks,
Sean

Just missed your last post - I've been through most of EE's database. Good reading though.

He changed his website since the last time I looked :) But his FAQ still says No. Maybe he has the ALT text in there for search engine ratings? Still do not get too much into that. changes way too often & I am still fighting CSS right now :P
