sbs 2003 with ISA 2004. Installed new SSL certificate and the OWA external no longer works.

Hi,

I have a SBS 2003 setup with ISA 2004, OWA worked when i used the certificate it generates when using the internet connection wizard. When i changed the SSL certifcate to one i brought the OWA stopped working. I changed it in IIS by changing the SSL on the default web site.

If  i now tried to access it externally it comes up with the error.

Error Code: 500 internal server error. The principal target name is incorrect.

The new certificate uses the same FQDN as the one generated by the ICW, so i'm a little lost as to why it failes. On the failed page it shows it's using the new certificate by clicking on the padlock.

Any i missing something. I works find internally using the same FQDN.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Cheers Paul.

Hi Keith,

I did try that on the listner used by the OWA but that didn't seem to do anything.

I've just tried it again, but still same error.

All i'm doing is updating the default web site in IIS and then the ISA web listner, am i missing something. I'm assuming it is something on the ISA as it works fine internally.

All help greatly appreciated.

Hi Keith,

Fixed it, had to change the name of the server to publish to match the external DNS name. The ICW seems to set it to publishing.kbtech.local which matched the self generated certificate issued-to name, so when i used the new certiifcate which issued-name is the external DNS name it failed.

Thanks again for your help.

Paul.
Nice one
